Sample and Hold was a show at the Ship Inn featuring live performances by young electronic musicians from St. John's, Newfoundland. A part of the 2004 Sound Symposium. From the show flyer: Elling Lien and Ben Jackson (Stokast and DJ Scrawny) have been collaborating and co-conspiring in joint composition, live performance, and improvised radio experimentation since 1996. Stokast makes a fun and unpredictable brokenbeat. DJ Scrawny combines catchy melodies at a high BPM with dense and obsessive...

This 4 track mini ep is the first release by dorntec on acediamusic. It contains tracks that were composed during the years 2000 to 2003, and which range from frikl electronica to dark lounge. His dark soundscapes are influenced by old german silent movies from the Max Schreck era and personal incidents like the death of his beloved rat.

The two "ragazzi" from Italy strike back and their unique electroclash sound once again hits the spot. The retro adventure "Mio figlio egoista" is nothing for the weak-hearted; expect massive beats and juicy distortion sounds, the genial idiots keep the dancefloor vibe alive!

Having not officially released music since the mid-90s, legendary modgroup Fairlight's Mikael Fyrek makes a comeback in the netscene , teaming up with awe-inspiring vocalist Jenny Tang Kai as the ambient/electro duo simply named Tang Kai. They offer us 4 tracks of sublime electrified trip-hop, with slowpaced, cinematic progression, accompanied with elevating vocals and soulful writing. An ep to enjoy while they finish their album for Apegenine Recordings, due winter 2005. Peaceful, yet creeping...

Hailing from Lyon, France, nil follows up from his track on our featherfoil compilation with his very first solo release ' Le mini mini ep '. 3 tracks of very uplifting melodies blended with some upbeat glitch and idm/drill&bass techniques. Masterfully created beatwork and sequencing, eclectic style and ingenious instrumental crafting makes this release an adequate sonic wallpaper of nil's individuality and creativity.

We have a new release from respected Ohio artist 'Algorhythm'. He has released mp3's before on Kikapu and currently has a CD release called 'The Contingency EP' available through NoLogo Records (which was also jointly released as mp3's on Kikapu). There is an excellent review of the 'Contingency' EP over at StaticBeats.com. 'I Caught It [and let it go mix]' is a remix of a Jizzelo track that is "about being cold and alone in the winter time. you get sad and dreamy, but there is always room...

Following up on his first ever netrelease on benefit of the boomerang's netlabel Yomi Records, Holland's Fah brings us 34 minutes of intense beat engineering and manipulation. Eclectic, slow paced tracks filled with mechanical darkness that contradictivaly creates an organic feel through the musical hydrolics. Creeping, yet warm and comferting at times, a peak into unkown territory. BioBip is fah's own mixture of idm and ambient brought to you through the staticity of his individuality.

A little over one and a half year ago the idea of soulseek records was created, spawned from the P2P community Soulseek which has come to be known for its many devoted musical talents. A compilation was made as an initial release and was well recieved. Eventually the thought of a more intensely collaborative project came to mind, where several artists would create short songs that would intersect with each other in the most bizarre and twisted ways; hence the title "One Minute...

after listening to this e.p. there will be people calling for rating systems even for instrumental music. the pictures conveyed by the title track "die loreley" are too explicit, as that it could be listened to without "parental guidance". too tempting the chants of the loreley and too brutal the end of her victims. sabine "elektr@" dirksen" presents on this exclusive tonAtom-release more than 15 minutes of exciting mindmovies. there is nothing more to say...

extra drei his third release on tonAtom or just three new tracks - the release titel fits both. the important thing about it is that there is a new aljen release and the good things we have got used to still remain. aljen (=aleksander jensko) has chosen to make it not easy for casual listeners (but why should he anyway) with tracks of up 11 minutes length. but the reward is that those tracks are that large and deep so that it is a pleasure to be "in" them, to enjoin their atmosphere...
